MoinMoin Desktop Edition

The DesktopEdition could be for MoinMoin what is Knoppix for Linux. We should move it on a toplevel page. May be setup.py should support building the packages. We should advertise it on a more prominent place in our wiki like MoinMoinFeatures, ... -- FlorianFesti 2004-12-16 14:12:11

Layout and elaborated authentification/rights is critical

IRC is not mine :-/, so here:

I am currently creating two collaboration-internet-platforms for a company (which is a 100% daughter of a large foundation, so not intended to really depending on making profit). Among others we now have choosen MoinMoin for first prototype. And now I am working hard to dig into the core. What I currently dig for is detailed documentation of the system itself. Precisely to code the known html feature of ImageMaps as macro. For me it still takes some work to step into the action/macro code and all the unknown dependencies. But why I write this here? E.G.: Is there an UML Classdiagram overview? Such documentation stuff could really push MoinMoin up the ranking for third parties to use it.

One of the top priority concerns that my customer had: Can we adjust the layout to have X? So besides functionality, getting exactly that layout that the customer imagines. And then comes access-rights (like e.g. TW.) and easinesss of expanding functionality. So the more time I need to get into the system, the less tasty MoinMoin is for companies. Time is crucial.

Maybe I can convince my customer to allow returning e.g. layout and some content results to MoinMoin, under GPL. (It would be one or two largely adjusted themes, more macros and some semantic navigation plugins. I am new to Python, so the code could then still be needing some workover. But I am already accustoming... ;-) -- AndreasHüwel 2005-02-09 17:08:11
