The basic idea is the ability to disable word wrap in the text mode editor. Then each row of a table would be on its own line in the markup, allowing you to line up the || characters and make editing of tables in markup much more sane.

Some arguments against:

 * The GUI editor will destroy any markup formatting, including extra whitespace within the cell text
 * '''''If''''' the GUI editor worked better, there would be no need for this feature.  Perhaps better spending effort to improve the GUI editor.  (including, fix the item above)
